heavylight is a label for sculptures illuminating themselves. They consist of a heavy body and a source of light. Together they form a self-contained scenery.
The objects are produced in classic media like ceramics or bronze-casting. Every one is unique and handmade. Aesthetically they relate to timeless archetypes of salon lamps.
Either figurative or abstract – the connecting theme derives from desire for nature and nature observation.

All objects are conceived and realized by Berlin-based artist, film-maker, editor and ex-dancer Sonja Baeger.
Since basic components for theater and film are light and movement, the step over to create light-objects is not as big as it might seem. Although sculptures are per se static, they are always freezing a movement and therefore imply the before and after on a timeline from the point of now.
